When is filler not an injectable?

An attractive, youthful face requires midfacial volumeThe aging face suffers from a loss of soft tissue in the midfacial area and thinning, sagging skin. Even young people may have what is called midface hypoplasia, characterized by a sunken, skeletal look due to an absence of soft tissue below the cheekbones. This condition makes a face look misleadingly older with unbalanced facial features, and can appear even worse when combined with a skeletal deficiency.

For the face that could benefit from rejuvenation, the lack of soft tissue is usually the primary culprit. Although a facelift may remedy sagging skin, it can result in an unnatural mask-like appearance in patients who have hollow areas under the cheekbones. For a truly youthful, attractive look, the face requires midfacial volume.

Enhancing midfacial volume is attempted in numerous ways, including injections of autogenous fat, hyaluronic-acid based solutions, or calcium hydroxyapatite-based fillers. Unfortunately, issues involving variable absorption rates and filler migration make these methods problematic. Attempting to project specific areas of the face with large volumes of an injectable may cause the filler to settle in less desirable locations and can produce an amorphous (or what is now referred to as the “overfilled”) look. Additionally, some of these products require multiple injections over time, while others can result in nodular formations that are difficult to remove.

So if a midfacial filler is needed and injectables are hardly ideal, what’s the solution?

Silicone implants from Implantech can provide a permanent, symmetrical solution that looks and feels like natural bone structure and tissue. For example, the patented Conform Binder Submalar® Implant readily adapts to the hollowed area underlying the cheekbones, while the Conform Terino Malar Shell® Implant augments the zygoma and creates a higher arch to the cheekbones. The Conform™ Midfacial Implant incorporates the features of both to simultaneously project the malar area while volumetrically expanding the submalar and premaxillary space. It creates a smooth transition between the two anatomical regions, making the midfacial features more aesthetically balanced.View Before-After Photos

Additionally, Implantech’s facial implants provide an excellent foundation for face lifts or wrinkle removal. And while they represent a permanent solution, they are also removable should the need occur.

For a more aesthetic, youthful and vibrant look, consider Implantech’s high-quality facial implants.
